Spring Update; progress report

We appreciate all of you who continue to ask about Dad's progress and apologize for not keeping his blogsite as up-to-date as possible. I wanted to take a few minutes to update you on Dad's wonderful Resurrection - Easter Celebration with the family! Also, I wanted to update you on Dad's pain episodes in his left hip, and round 3 Botox therapies.

Resurrection-Easter Sunday!
Dad was able to attend worship services @ Parkway along with some of the family members. Ruthy shared that Dad "sang" and "shouted out some strong AMEN's" to the Preacher! Afterward, Ruthy had invited all the family to her place on Tyler Parkway. They had the traditional Easter ham (honey-baked) and BBQ -- two of our Dad's favorites. Sharon's potato salad is another one of Dad's favs and many other treats were brought to share in the Easter Dinner. It was a beautiful day and everyone enjoyed being out on the deck.

Round 3 Botox Therapy - Tuesday, April 6th
Ruthy and Donna took Dad with the help of a transportation service to Audubon Hospital. It was another beautiful day. They shared with the Doctor that Round 2 injections seemed to have very little positive effect. The Doctor wants to see Dad again on April 30th for a follow up to Round 3 injections. New PT orders were requested of Dr. Bhupalam, and he said he'd leave that up to Dr. Dhaftary, at Parkway. A couple of Dad's good buddies, Tommy Slusher and Corky Gollar were waiting for him when he returned from the appointment. Dad enjoyed some hot tea and banana bread that I'd sent to him. Of note, Dad was in considerable pain in his left hip during the injections. It was not the injections, but the standard left hip pain he's been enduring for many months.

Left hip pain: Last Friday, April 9th Dad was able to see his original Orthopedic Surgeon, who did his right hip replacement surgery in August 2008. This Doc determined that it is NOT arthritis pain (as originally evaluated by the doctors, through Parkway) -- but, it is "tendinitis of his hip abductor". He is to have ultrasound treatments for ten (10) days and to be seen again. Ruthy is the key contact to get updates on Dad's hip pain situation. We are trying to stay vigilant.

Again, we thank everyone for continued prayers for Dad!
We are thankful that his hip may be feeling much, much better after this ultrasound treatment. Stay connected! - Love, Kathy
