Yesterday, Dad was moved to a larger semi-private room at Parkway. He's now in Room 324. On 12/30/2009, we discussed our continued desire to have Dad moved to a larger semi-private room. This is an answer to prayers! Dad's part of this room now has a window overlooking Eastern Parkway...a much improved view, and the end rooms at Parkway are "oversized". So, the better view and more room are both blessings!
It was such a blessing to be in Louisville, Kentucky for the Christmas/New Year holidays! I was there December 21st thru January 1st. Many days, I'd walk over from Ruthy's residence in Tyler Park area and take Dad for our little walk route. It was pretty cool, but we'd bundle up with beanie, scarves and gloves and get moving! I loved it, and Dad told the aides "my daughter from Colorado loves to walk"....every time I asked Dad if he wanted to go, without hesitation - he said "yes!" I love the conversations we have on these walks!
Dad will be seeing the neurologist next week (January 13th) to discuss addition BOTOX injections and associated Physical Therapy for his left side. We ask for your prayers over this.
Additionally, Rich and Dad were able to demonstrate the way Dad "kicks" that left leg for the Parkway staff in the meeting on 12/30. They seemed genuinely pleased at what they say. The head of Physical Therapy said Dad is "working harder for us, as he's perhaps more vested in our relationships, than he does for them". Dad keep working hard, no matter who's helping/watching! Never, ever give up!
Happy New Year and glad to have a little light shine on Dad's room situation.
I hear it is COLD and SNOWY in Louisville....don't worry; warmer weather is on the way!
Love, Kathy
